Experience report internship – Matteo Barberio

I completed a nine-month internship in the investment team at CONSTELLATION CAPITAL. The application process was clearly structured and transparently designed, which allowed me to gain a professional impression of the company right from the start.

During my internship at CONSTELLATION, I gained comprehensive insights into the entire transaction process – from the initial contact with potential targets to the successful closing. Additionally, I had the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of new platform investments and gain valuable practical experience in areas such as financial modeling, business model analysis, and market analysis. One particularly exciting aspect was my active role in value-creation projects for individual portfolio companies, which allowed me to gain a deep understanding of operational development after an acquisition.

What I particularly appreciated about my internship was the high level of responsibility entrusted to me for demanding tasks. At the same time, I could always rely on a competent team that supported me with regular feedback, challenged me, and encouraged my development.

I experienced the corporate culture at CONSTELLATION as very open, appreciative, and professional. From the very beginning, I was integrated as a full-fledged team member and was able to actively contribute my ideas. Regular feedback discussions with my mentor provided valuable impulses for my personal development, while the close and collegial collaboration fostered a strong network within the team.

Overall, I highly recommend the internship at CONSTELLATION to anyone looking to gain initial insights into the private equity industry or deepen their existing knowledge. Personally, this experience has confirmed my desire to pursue a long-term career in private equity, and I look forward to further developing the connections I made during this time.
